Prof. Vitharana new COPA Chief

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Prof. Tissa Vitharana has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA). He was nominated to the position by State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development, and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna, while it was seconded by Co-Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila. The Committee of Selection, at the meeting held on the 27 August 2020, nominated 16 members to the COPA in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 119 (1) of the Parliament. The COPA members include: Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila; State Minister of Solar, Wind, and Hydro Power Generation Project Development Duminda Dissanayake; State Minister of Batik, Handloom, and Local Apparel Industries Dayasiri Jayasekara; State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development, and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna; State Minister of Prison Reforms and Rehabilitation Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle; State Minister of Samurdhi, Micro Finance, Home Economy, Self-Employment, Business Development, and Under-Performing State Asset Development Shehan Semasinghe; State Minister of Cane, Brass, Clay, Furniture, and Rural Industry Promotion Prasanna Ranaweera; Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National Organiser Tissa Attanayake; SLPP Parliamentarian Prof. Tissa Vitharana; SJB MPs Harin Fernando, Niroshan Perera, Faizal Cassim, Ashok Abeysinghe, and Buddhika Pathirana; SLPP MPs K.
