The proposal to gazette the wild elephant reserves will be submitted to the Cabinet in the first week of February, Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation, C. B. Rathnayake said.
Ratnayake said the proposal to gazette the Wild Elephant Reserve was discussed at a meeting held on the 11th with the participation of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
The Minister also said that a programme will be launched in the future to find a sustainable solution to the human-elephant conflict.
