A group of protesters from the Coalition of Trade Unions and Mass Organizations Against Government Repression who staged a rally at Galle Face in Colombo today (16) were freely admitted to the Presidential Secretariat premises, The Morning learnt.
This information was confirmed to The Morning by the Presidential Media Spokesman Kingsley Rathnayake.
The protesters called for the immediate release of the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union Joseph Stalin and other trade union leaders and social activists who are being held in quarantine centres.
Accordingly, the group had made their way to the Presidential Secretariat before entering it without any obstacles.
Once inside, the group is said to have had discussions with officials before exiting the premises.
