Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today instructed the officials to provide the kerosene subsidy to the beneficiaries without any misuse or irregularities.
He said this when the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to replenish the kerosene subsidy and to revise the Ports and Airport Development Tax on crude oil met under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister today.
The Prime Minister directed to explore the possibility of providing kerosene subsidy directly to the target beneficiaries including farmers and fishermen without any misuse. The Prime Minister also requested that a proper procedure be prepared in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also instructed State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal to discuss with the State Banks and the Central Bank the possibility of obtaining loans from the State Banks in Rupees instead of Dollars.
