During his parliamentary speech today (22) Minister of Justice Ali Sabry proposed some measures to be implemented if the safety and security of prisoners are at stake.
The Justice Minister noted that the Government holds responsibility for the prisoners and will ensure the prisoners are sent to a more secure facility.
Sabry clarified that this would not necessarily be a transfer to Jaffna for the prisoners, but to a safer environment further stating that it is the duty of the Government to hold high the safety, security and welfare of the detainees which are of utmost importance.
