Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera said today that he has signed the cabinet paper to ban the wearing of face veils including burqa in public.
The Minister expressed these views at a function held in Kalutara.
He said wearing of face veil in public would directly affect the national security of the country.
He also said that steps would be taken to ban some 1,000 unregistered madrasa schools.
