Pulathisi Intercity Express was launched by President Maithripala Sirisena, Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Taranjit Singh Sandhu at the Fort Railway Station in Colombo.
The S13 luxury train added to Sri Lanka Railway will run from Colombo to Polonnaruwa.
The train is supplied to Sri Lanka under an Indian credit line.
