  • Clement’s launches an all-you-can-eat menu
From what was just a mere food truck, Clement’s Restaurant and Banquet quickly took off and is now a recognised restaurant in Wattala. The venue is now a fine dining establishment frequented by larger groups of people, often corporates and families looking to have a quiet yet hearty meal, especially considering that their family-style restaurant has the capacity to seat 70 patrons and that they also maintain a mini-hall for more intimate functions. Additionally, Clement’s has a grand banquet hall that can accommodate 400 guests comfortably. Whether you’re feeling like Italian food, Indian food, western food, or a mix of everything, they’ve got you covered. We had the pleasure of experiencing this new menu. Before we get into the food, we must talk about the price: It’s just Rs. 1,950 per person for over 30 dishes to choose from and as many times as you like. What a steal! We promise wholeheartedly that it is well worth your money. The menu features a range of appetisers, salads, soups, mains, desserts, and beverages. Of course, they had everyone’s favourite fizzy drink, but they also had a range of milkshakes to pick from. We opted for the chocolate, and they’d done it justice – thick, milky, and incredibly chocolatey…just how we like it. Starting with the appetisers, we snacked on kochi balls, batter fried fish with spicy cocktail sauce, and some mini chicken and cheese burgers. We say “snacked”, but we felt that this could’ve been a meal in itself; each plate came with a side of fries and coleslaw. Talking about coleslaw, they had one of the best we’ve ever had – the secret ingredient: Pineapple. It was light and fresh, and the citrusy hint was exactly what we needed. The batter fried fish was also well done – soft fish, crispy batter, and the sauce was a star. We highly recommend it. We skipped the soup, but they generally have an option of soup of the day to pick from; if you’re lucky, you’d get the flavour of your choice. Diving into the mains, we tried the chicken alfredo pasta, the Chinese set menu, and Clement’s Kochi Triple Decker. The pasta comes with boneless chicken tossed in a rich, creamy, cheesy sauce, and you can pick the pasta of your choice. They had certainly not skimped out on the cheese – not only was the sauce mixed with parmesan, but there was also a generous sprinkling on top. If one were to try to obtain this pasta anywhere else, it would probably cost as much as the total buffet at Clement’s does. The Chinese set menu was something you’d find anywhere: It had a good combination of flavours served with hot butter mushrooms, devilled egg, chop suey, and one could choose their meat from options of prawns, chicken, beef, or pork. Next up, the Clement’s Kochi Triple Decker – if you can tell by the name, it’s essentially an enormous burger with layers of cheese and a spicy chicken patty served with French fries and coleslaw. A very well done burger and it’s incredibly filling as well. We’ve been to a lot of restaurants in our life, and we must say that the service at Clement’s was impeccable. The waiters and staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed at any given time, constantly asking us if we were satisfied or needed anything. It was a pleasant experience and we thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Top notch service, if we do say so ourselves, and it was the motivation any guest would need to keep coming back. Not just that, the service was efficient and the food was brought out within minutes of ordering, despite everything being prepared then and there, freshly. He also shared that they offer BYOB (bring your own booze) services and are able to host batch parties and more rambunctious events with relative ease. We try not to be pushy, and so we let you guys decide whether a restaurant is worth visiting, but this one is an absolute must-try. There was not a single thing to complain about!
