  • Tech experts to districts soon
BY Pamodi Waravita The Production and Supply of Fertiliser and Regulation of Chemical Fertilisers and Insecticide Use State Ministry yesterday (2) stated that a quick response (QR) code system will be introduced for all imported and locally produced carbonic fertiliser in order to allow farmers to monitor the quality of the carbonic fertiliser that they use. Speaking at an online press conference organised by the Presidential Media Division (PMD), Production and Supply of Fertiliser and Regulation of Chemical Fertilisers and Insecticide Use State Ministry Additional Secretary Mahesh Gammanpila said that the imported carbonic fertiliser will be quality tested before being distributed to farmers. The “Maha kanna (season)” farming cycle is due to start this month (September), with the state-imposed ban on chemical fertiliser still in place. The 1920 hotline is available for all farmers to address their questions to us. A team of technical experts will also be appointed per district to help in the implementation of organic farming,” said Agriculture Department Director General Dr. Ajantha de Silva at the same event.
