The quarantine curfew imposed in the Western Province would be extended till 5 am on November 9th Monday, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said.
Speaking at a special news briefing, the Army Commander said quarantine curfew would be imposed from 5 am tomorrow until November 9th Monday in the Kurunegala municipality area and the police divisions of Kuliyapitiya and Eheliyagoda as well.
"We urge everyone living in the areas where the quarantine curfew has been imposed to stay at home and not to leave outside unless for essential services," he said.
He said the decision to extend the curfew was taken due to the higher number of COVID-19 patients reported during the last few days.
