“There are a good number of marriage offers. I’ve lost count of the number.”

         - Shakib Al Hasan

Former world no. 1 ODI cricket all-rounder and Bangladesh national cricket Captain Shakib Al Hasan said so in November 2009, three years before his marriage, when Al Hasan was said to be his country’s “most eligible bachelor”. Shakib Al Hasan, born on 24 March 1987, is often considered to be one of the greatest all-rounders of his generation. He was ranked as one of the world’s most famous athletes by “ESPN World Fame 100” in 2019.

His aggressive left-handed batting style in the middle order and his controlled slow left-arm orthodox bowling has made Al Hasan a consistent player for Bangladesh even at his current age of 34. He studied for a BA in English at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). He married Umme Ahmed Shishir, a Bangladeshi American in December 2012 after meeting her in 2010 while Al Hasan was playing county cricket for Worcestershire in England.

The couple had their first daughter Alayna Aubrey Hasan in November 2015, second daughter Errum Hasan in April 2020, and their first son Eyzah Al Hasan in March 2021. In August 2018, Al Hasan got Green Card that allows him to live and work in the US. He is also the Chairman of a firm named Monarch Holdings and a goodwill ambassador for Bangladesh in the UNICEF. In April 2020, Shakib Al Hasan auctioned his 2019 Cricket World Cup bat for Covid-19 relief.
