Raids in Tamil Nadu over Easter Sunday attacks

The NIA has raided several locations in Tamil Nadu over suspected links to the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka.

A two-member team, led by an Inspector General arrived in Colombo last month to assist in the investigations into the terror attacks that took place on Easter Sunday.

With the information gathered by local intelligence services, those NIA operatives had conducted raids in 8 locations in the Tamil Nadu region.

News18 had reported that NIA agents visit to Sri Lanka was not to assist their Easter Sunday probe but to see if an exchange of information and evidence gathered by the NIA and the local intelligence service can be mutually beneficial, a top NIA official had stated.

It was also reported that 21 people from Kerala, including women and children, had moved to Afghanistan to join the ISIS.

The probe had revealed that members of this group, led by one, Ashfaq Majeed, had gone to Sri Lanka’s Jaffna before they sneaked into Afghanistan.
