The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in sea areas around the island. Heavy showers will occur in the northern, eastern, south-eastern, and southern sea areas of the island. Winds will be north-easterly in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Kankesanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and south-easterly to easterly in other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be about 20-30 kmph and can increase up to 50 kmph in the sea areas extending from Beruwala to Pottuvil via Galle and Matara and from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai. Sea areas extending from Beruwala to Pottuvil via Galle and Matara and from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai can be fairly rough at times.
