Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Manusha Nanayakkara stated in Parliament today (22) that the issue raised by Minister Namal Rajapaksa on prisoners that have been detained for long periods, should have been discussed with Namal's father and uncle. "We are thankful to you for raising this extremely timely issue. This is indeed an issue that has been persisting for a long time. We cannot debate this as Tamil, Sinhala or Muslim politicians. We should put our differences aside when discussing this," he said to Minister Namal Rajapaksa in Parliament. However, he stated that when they raised this issue, the Members of the Opposition were labelled as terrorists. "This is why you should have discussed this with your father and uncle on the Cabinet level and given a proper solution for this. Yesterday, police raided MP Harin Fernando's house. Rishad Bathiudeen is still imprisoned with no proof that he was involved in certain crimes. This isn't justice," Nanayakkara said.
