While speaking at the National celebration of the one year vaccination drive anniversary which took place at the Ministry of Health on Saturday (29), Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella expressed views over “moaners” in Parliament who made negative remarks about the launch of the vaccination programme.
“I recall the first hour of Parliament being full of moans when we launched the vaccination drive. The moaners said that it will not be successful. It is with disappointment that I mention this and not with pleasure. Without naming names, another said in Parliament that the vaccination drive was a failure. Not only the people, but don't the health sector workers get discouraged when they hear such remarks?” the Minister said.
He also noted that what halted this discouragement was the responsibility taken by health sector officials to overcome this challenge, within the self confidence given to them by the President.
