A season of redemption for the two Milan-based clubs as Inter lifted their 19th Scudetto and AC Milan secured the spot in the Champions League after seven years.

However, these two clubs, including Juventus, were involved in the Alleged European Super League which fell apart just after 48 hours since its announcement. The two Milan clubs withdrew and joined UEFA, but Juventus are still in hope of the breakaway tournament.

Taking a look at the Serie A league which concluded few weeks back, Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan side was by far the best in the league.

They ended up with 91 points, 12 points clear of second-placed AC Milan. Atlanta came in third place, one point behind AC Milan and tied on 78 points with fourth-placed Juventus.

The defending champions Juventus were struggling to secure their Champions League spot but thanks a final-week draw for Napoli helped them edge over by just one point.

Lazio will be joining Napoli for the Europa League while Roma will be joining the inaugural Europa Conference League.

At the bottom of the table, Parma, Crotone, and Benevento ended up in relegation. The big surprise was Parma, who secured 11th spot in the table in the 2019/20 season, suffered 24 defeats while only securing three wins. They ended up with 20 points, the lowest in the table.

Crotone and Benevento who earned promotion only last season, failed to survive in the top league for more than a year.

In the Serie B, Empoli secured the first automatic qualification spot after winning the League. They were relegated in the 2018/19 season and they will return to Serie A after two years of absence.

It was a year of redemption for Salernitana as they secured the second automatic qualification spot, after 23 years. However, they could potentially lose this spot, if the club is not sold to a new ownership.

Salernitana owner Claudio Lotito is also the owner of Lazio. Article 16 of the licensing and registration regulations for clubs prohibits individuals from owning multiple clubs in the same division.

The Serie B playoffs were played between Venezia, Cittadella, Brescia, and Chievo. Venezia beat Cittadella 2-1 on aggregate in the playoff finals to earn promotion after 19 years.
