Reopening of schools: Decision next week

Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said a decision will be taken next week with regard to reopening schools for the second term, and all safety measures would be taken beforehand.

Alahapperuma said that a decision would most probably be taken next week to reopen schools for the second term, considering the safety of the students.

Education Ministry Secretary N.H.M. Chithrananda told The Morning that before reopening, the schools would have to follow the health and safety guidelines already issued to them.

In addition, the Education Minister said in a press release that schools will be reopened in four stages, and that even academic and non-academic staff will only be allowed to start work at least four days after the schools had been disinfected.
