Repatriation of Lankans should not risk public health: Defence Secy

01 Jun 2020

Although it is the Government’s responsibility to repatriate every Sri Lankan citizen, it should be done in a manner that does not pose an issue to the health of the general public, said Defence Ministry Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Kamal Gunaratne. He mentioned this while speaking at the “Itukama” programme organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Electronic Broadcasters. Gunaratne said that anyone of any age, no matter from what country, when in danger, will think of their motherland. He further said that there are about 40,000 Sri Lankan expatriates expecting to return to the island.
