Former Peterite fly-half Thenuka Nanayakkara scored 13 points, including the winning penalty in the last minute, to steal a 23-21 win for CH&FC in the first leg of the Air Force Commanders Cup rugby encounter against Air Force at Ratmalana on Friday (13).
After 20 months of absence, the Sri Lankan rugby community was treated with a thrilling match between the two premier clubs. The evening was graced by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The half-time scores read 13-6 for CH.
Second stage
The second stage of the event is planned to be held on Friday, 20 August at 4.30 p.m. at the same venue, Ratmalana. The matches are held under the supervision of the Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.
Matches will be streamed live on the Papare website and Dialog TV Channel 118.
