The releasing of election results of the Ratnapura, Kegalle and Badulla Districts is expected to get delayed due to the adverse weather conditions experienced in the three districts, Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said.
He explained that the minor flood conditions experienced in these three districts due to heavy rainfall had resulted in a delay in transporting ballot boxes to the counting centers.
According to the Elections Commission, the delay in transporting the ballot boxes to the counting centers had resulted in the counting of votes commencing at around 10 p.m.
Therefore the release of results of Ratnapura, Kegalle and Badulla districts could be delayed, Deshapriya said.
