Rishad Bathiudeen files FR petition before Supreme Court

Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen has filed an Fundamental Rights Petition before the Supreme Court today.

The FR petition has been filed seeking a court order to prevent his arrest for allegedly transporting displaced persons from Puttalam to Mannar in CTB buses during the last presidential election.

Bathiudeen, in his petition, states that he has no connection to the alleged incident and that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is maliciously attempting to arrest him over the case.

The Attorney General (AG), Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), CID are amoung the respondents in the case.
