The Attorney General’s Coordinating Officer Nishara Jayaratne stated today (05) that Attorney General Dappula de Livera has informed at the request of the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), that there is no legal impediment in facilitating MP Rishad Bathiudeen from attending Parliament sessions.
However, Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekera has claimed that Bathidueen cannot be brought to Parliament due to the fact that he was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and by doing so it would obstruct ongoing investigations.
