Rs. 1500 million allocated for Thriposha production: Piyal Nishantha

Piyal Nishantha, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Pre-Schools and Primary Education stated in Parliament today (06) that the government has allocated Rs. 1500 million from this year's budget for the production of Thriposha, a nutritional supplement for children in the country. The Minister of State was responding to an oral question raised by Parliamentarian Buddhika Pathirana regarding the steps taken by the government to eradicate malnutrition among children. The Minister of State further stated that children do not attend school due to the inability of some parents to provide breakfast and highlighted the hygiene problems of girls. He said that steps have been taken to increase the production capacity of Thriposha from this year and that plans have been made to provide high quality biscuits to pre-school children in the future.
