Three suspects have been arrested near the Muddalampitiya Sippiaru Bridge in Mannar with a stock of Kerala cannabis worth nearly 20 million rupees, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The suspect was arrested while transporting cannabis from Jaffna to Mannar in five bags of fertilizer, police said.
89 kilograms and 355 grams of Kerala cannabis were found in the possession of the suspects.
The arrested suspects are aged between 26 and 44 and are residents of Vavuniya and Mannar.
They are due to be produced before the Mannar Magistrate's Court today (19) and the Mannar Police and the North Central Naval Command are conducting further investigations.
