Rs. 5,000 allowance to be given from next week

Plans are afoot to reinstate the Rs. 5,000 allowance from next week, said Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara. He said that this allowance will be given to the people who have lost their daily income who are not public sector employees. This was stated by Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara addressing the media in Colombo. The Minister further stated,"An allowance of Rs. 5,000 is being given to all those who earn a living, to those who have no other income, to those who are not public sector employees. There is no relief on the water bill. The relief is to pay late." State Minister Shehan Semasinghe also added that the Government expects to allocate a sum of Rs. 30 billion to pay the Rs. 5,000 allowance to those affected by Covid-19.
