Rs. 5,000 for families affected by curfew : Allowance for 15 more police areas

  • Rs. 16 million for dry rations for orphanages and homes
A request has been made to the Ministry of Finance to obtain the necessary provisions to grant an allowance of Rs. 5,000 to 15 more police areas where the curfew has been imposed, said Gampaha District Secretary Sunil Jayalath. Accordingly, an amount of over Rs. 2.32 billion has been estimated to be distributed among 464,254 families, he said. Under the first phase of the programme, the allowance of Rs 5,000 has already been provided to families in the Minuwangoda, Divulapitiya, and Veyangoda police areas in the Gampaha District. The District Secretary added that 3,702 families in the Gampaha District have been quarantined and steps have been taken to provide them dry rations. Meanwhile, a sum of Rs. 16 million has been allocated to provide dry rations to children’s homes, elders’ homes, and economically disadvantaged pirivenas in the District.
