The Department of Samurdhi Development says that the payment of Rs. 5,000 allowance to Samurdhi recipients and low income earners for the New Year festive season will resume from today (15).
Its Director General Bandula Thilakasiri said that the payment of the Rs. 5,000 allowance was suspended only yesterday (14) during the New Year. However, those who did not receive the allowance will be reimbursed from today, he said. At present an allowance of Rs. 5,000 has been given to nearly 1.8 million families. An allowance of Rs. 5,000 for Samurdhi recipients and low income families for the New Year season was launched on the 12th.Rs. 5,000 to be distributed to low income families from today
