Speaking to the media yesterday (12) regarding the problems faced by teachers about salary anomalies, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP S B Dissanayake stated that he knows how to fix the problems faced by teachers.
"The only way to fix this problem is to stop listening to the protesting teachers, and just open schools. I know the President and Ministers are trying to resolve this matter amicably. Look at other countries and how they function. They don't listen to protesters. If they also listened to protesters, then they would also end up as a poor country like ours,” said Dissanayake.
Dissanayake further went on to say that this has previously been done in history where leaders have "put down" such protests and moved forward.
"The rich countries have come to where they are today by putting down such protesters and doing what the leadership wants to do," Dissanayake concluded.
