Safeguarding democracy: JVP and FSP to work together

By Skandha Gunasekara The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) are looking to work together to further democracy in Sri Lanka. Former MP and JVP member Bimal Rathnayake said that the announcement by their party leader was to the effect that the two parties would work towards the betterment of democracy. “We will work alongside the Frontline Socialist Party to eradicate corruption and undemocratic practices in Sri Lanka,” Rathnayake said. Meanwhile, FSP Propaganda Secretary Duminda Nagamuwa said that this co-operation between the two parties had nothing to do with the upcoming election. “We will contest the election separately, but our two parties will work in unison to develop and promote democracy in Sri Lanka,” he said.
