New Democratic Front (DNF) presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa today called on SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa to face a one-on-one debate, highlighting that a "strong candidate need not be afraid to engage with their opponent in an unscripted exchange of ideas."
Premadasa who took to his twitter handle today requested Rajapaksa to engage in a presidential debate which will be aired on live TV so voters can watch the two fearlessly pit their policies and visions against each other.
Following the Election Commission meeting held yesterday SLPP National Organizer Basil Rajapaksa when asked by reporters if the SLPP candidate would participate in a debate with his opponent, he said the SLPP would like to unveil the candidate's presidential manifesto first.
The former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa failed to attend the first presidential debate organised by the March 12 Movement at the beginning of this month.
I challenge @GotabayaR to face me 1:1 on live TV so voters can watch us fearlessly pit our policies and visions against each other. A strong candidate need not be afraid to engage with their opponent in an unscripted exchange of ideas. SP #PresPoll2019
