Sajith Premadasa says he will not take up the candidature of Premiership without being appointed United National Party(UNP) Leader.
He expressed these views during a meeting in Kollonnawa yesterday(17).
Premadasa said he accepted the presidential candidacy without being appointed party leader only because the public and many members of the UNP had requested him to do so.
He added that this time however, he would not accept Prime Ministerial candidacy if he were not made leader of the UNP.
He further said he was ready to retire at any time if requested by the Party.
