Sapugaskanda to be operational by end Jan

The Sapugaskanda oil refinery that was temporarily closed on the 3rd of January due to the lack of crude oil and funds to purchase crude oil, will once again resume operations after the 23rd of January, the Ministry of Energy Secretary Mrs K D R Olga stated. Mrs Olga confirmed that a consignment of crude oil is due to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 23rd of January, and once that consignment arrives, operations at the Sapugaskanda refinery will begin. Earlier, Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpilla confirmed that the country will not face a fuel shortage due to the closure of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery.
