Saudi citizens asked to return from five countries including Sri Lanka

24 Apr 2021

Saudi citizens currently living in Sri Lanka and four other other countries have been advised to return to the Kingdom as soon as possible. The four other countries are India, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines. This information has been disseminated through a notification issued by Saudi’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the governing body responsible for regulation of air transport services and the implementation of civil air regulations in the Kingdom. Accordingly, this decision has been made following a surge in Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka and other listed countries. Saudi has urged their citizens to return home as soon as possible in the event of flight cancellations from these countries, even if Riyadh decides to resume international flights next month. Flights entering Saudi from a number of other European Union countries and Switzerland have also been temporarily banned. As another precaution, the GACA has communicated to airlines operating in Saudi that boarding passes must only be issued to passengers whose health status isd either “immune” or “not been confirmed with infection.”
