It has been decided to temporarily close all schools, pre-schools and pirivenas in the Western and North Western Provinces with immediate effect.
Education Minister Prof. GL Peiris says that the decision will be effective until April 30.
The decision was taken in view of the Covid epidemic situation in the country.
However, schools in other provinces will be operational from tomorrow (27) as before, the Ministry of Education said.
Meanwhile, in accordance with the government's decision, all Catholic schools in the Western and North Western Provinces will be closed until April 30, the Archbishop's Office in Colombo announced.
