The semi-luxury bus service will be discontinued in the coming weeks, The Morning learnt.
Minister of Passenger Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera told The Morning that it had been decided that the semi-luxury bus service must be cancelled.
“We are having final discussions on the matter. Thereafter, it will be put before the Cabinet of Ministers for approval,” Minister Amaraweera said.
The Minister said the decision to stop the semi-luxury bus service was taken following an
outpour of public criticism over the service.
“The public was very critical of this service as they believe it didn’t serve any specific purpose.
Therefore, we have decided to do away with the service,” the Minister said, adding that the final decision on the matter lies with the Cabinet of Ministers.
