Seven-judge bench approved to hear FR case against IGP and former Def. Sec.

As per request by the Attorney General, a seven-judge bench has been approved to consider the Fundamental Rights petition case against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and former Defense Secretary, Hemasiri Fernando. The petition was filed by a father who had lost his two children to the attacks on Easter Sunday, accusing the IGP and the former Defense Secretary of failing in their duty to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks. Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya today (06) decided to appoint a seven-judge bench to consider the case. A seven judge bench is to consider the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition against IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando. The petition was filed accusing them of failing in their duties to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.
Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya today decided to appoint a seven judge bench to consider the case.
