Seven suspects have been arrested by the Anamaduwa police in Thonigala for treasure hunting, stated Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today.
The suspects have been produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate Court and further investigations are underway.
The Spokesman stated that the Sri Lanka Police are establishing a new investigation unit to look into environmental destruction, deforestation and treasure hunting and a four-digit number will also be created for emergencies.
