Several arrested for violating curfew

A total of 30 persons have been arrested so far for violating police curfew, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.

8 persons were taken into custody in Bandarawela for organizing a party & another for opening a restaurant in Haputale during curfew hours.

2 persons were arrested in Katunayake for wandering the streets during curfew hours.

The police has also arrested one individual in Tangalle for violating police curfew.

The suspects are to be produced before the Courts in their respective areas today. 

An all island  curfew was imposed from 6.00 pm yesterday until 6.00 am on Monday (23) to curb the spread of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the Sri Lanka Navy arrested 20 persons off Kochchikade and Puttalam coast for going out to sea during curfew hours.
