Singapore's decision on extradition of Mahendran within two weeks

12 Dec 2019

Singapore’s Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has informed the Government that it will inform its decision on the extradition of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran within the next two weeks. This was revealed by Cabinet Spokesman Ramesh Pathirana at the cabinet press briefing held today. When the bond scam case was taken up on December 4, it was revealed that Singapore had requested more time to study the documents submitted by the Government of Sri Lanka in regard to the extradition of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran. Pathirana further assured that the government in no way will stall investigations into the bond scam. He further denied claims that the government prorogued parliament to prevent the CBSL Forensic Audit being taken up by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).
