An event organised by former President Maithripala Sirisena to distribute scholarships to 300 students selected for universities in Polonnaruwa was suspended by the Election Commission today.
The former President is contesting the General Election from Polonnaruwa.
When the event commenced, Election Commission officials had arrived at the event and requested that the event be stopped as it violated Election laws.
