SIS DG files CID complaint against Fr. Cyril Gamini

A complaint has been filed at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) against Reverend Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando by the Director-General of the State Intelligence Service Major General Suresh Salley. The complaint was filed today (25) in regard to multiple malicious statements made in reference to Maj. Gen. Salley. The Morning spoke to Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nihal Thalduwa who confirmed the same. "A complaint has been filed against Fr Cyril Gamini and a few others by the Director-General of the State Intelligence Service Maj. Gen. Salley. The complaint was in regards to the allegations made by Fr Cyril which claimed that Maj. Gen. Salley had close contacts with Zahran Hashim and the Thowheed Jamath and that Sri Lanka’s Intelligence Units had provided financial and other forms of assistance to Zaharan Hashim," said Thalduwa. He went on to say that additional details pertaining to the complaint cannot be disclosed as this would tamper the investigations. "All I can say is that Salley had mentioned in his complaint that he has never communicated with Zahran Hashim or anyone affiliated to the Thowheed Jamath. Maj. Gen. Salley has also mentioned that the objective of these allegations is not only to mislead the general public, but to deliberately tarnish his reputation, as well as to put his life and the lives of his family in harm’s way," Thalduwa concluded.
