Art, a form of prescribing humans’ deepest feelings and fondest memories, has been in existence for many years. Just as art, Astra, for a period of 65 years, has been encouraging the tender dreams of budding children. World-renowned artist Pablo Picasso once said: “Every child is an artist.” The aforesaid fond memories and tender dreams come alive together at Siththam, an exhibition for the primary students to showcase their memories through creative arts on 22 and 23 November 2019 at the Royal MAS Arena. Organised by the Royal College Union in association with the Royal College Group of 2002, Siththam 2019 is powered by Astra. Astra, enriched with vitamins A and D, will inspire the future generation of the nation to chase their dreams in this third edition of Siththam. Initiated in 2016, it was first organised for the primary schoolchildren of Royal College where 1,800 drawings were submitted to the exhibition. The second edition was open to 10 more schools which increased the number of drawings to 2,500 in 2017, with the exhibition expanding its boundaries to the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka. Other than drawings from Royal College, Siththam 2019 will feature drawings from students of Visakha Vidyalaya, Ladies’ College, Bishop’s College, Sirmavo Bandaranayake Vidyalaya, S. Thomas’ College, Ananda College, Thurstan College, Isipathana College, and St. Joseph’s College, Trincomalee, thereby becoming the single largest exhibition to take place in the country. Astra Marketing Manager Shehani Liyange, speaking on the initiative, said: “We are humbly proud to have been nurturing the dreams of children for 65 years. Art is an important part of the early childhood of any human. We at Astra are proud to power and support this important gesture where the participants will transform their dreams into ink and colours.” During one’s childhood, everybody has ambitions; to be a pilot, an engineer, or perhaps a doctor. Irrespective of the ambition, everyone loves art. While chasing their top-tier dreams, the children will showcase their love for art at the Royal College MAS Arena in the third edition of Siththam, powered by Astra.
