Six explosions reported in and around Colombo

Three more explosions have been reported at three of Colombo’s five-star hotels and it was reported that several foreigners are amongst the injured casualties.

The explosions at Shangri-La Hotel and Cinnamon Grand Hotel had occurred inside two of their restaurants at Table One and Taprobane while there has been an explosion at the Kingsbury Hotel as well which has resulted in the deaths of foreign guests.

Security at all these six locations have been tightened and police have requested the public to co-operate with this security personnel, to avoid obstructions and to let them carry out their procedure.

Further reports revealed that explosives had been found in St. Lucia’s Church in Kotahena as well as in the parish of St. Theresa’s Church, Colombo 05.

The death toll at the Colombo National Hospital following the explosions were 25 and rising, similar death tolls have been reported in Negombo and Batticaloa as well.
