The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) Petition before the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, against the transfer of shares of the Yugadanavi LNG power plant.
It was put forward by SJB’s General Secretary, MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and some of the Cabinet Ministers, the West Coast Power Limited – the owner of 310 MW Yugadanavi Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya, US-based New Fortress Energy, the Attorney General and several others have been named as the respondents of the petition.
Meanwhile on Monday (18), Venerable Elle Gunawansa Thero and His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith also took to the Supreme Court to file an FR petition against the same.
54 persons were named as respondents, including Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, New Fortress Inc, several Cabinet Ministers and Ministerial Secretaries.
