SL inks 6 MoUs with Bangladesh

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have signed six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering several sectors during Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s two-day state visit to Bangladesh. The Prime Minister’s Office said that Premier Rajapaksa and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina commenced bilateral discussions at the latter’s office in Dhaka on 20 March. The MoUs were signed on the areas of empowering youth affairs development, agricultural research, the exchange of professional expertise, the training of health sector staff members, studies on international co-operation, and for a cultural exchange programme for 2021-2025. The two delegations, led by the respective Premiers, held bilateral talks after the two leaders held a tête-à-tête for some time, the Dhaka Tribune stated. Prime Minister Rajapaksa was received by Premier Hasina at the Tiger Gate. Premier Rajapaksa arrived in Dhaka on 19 March morning on a two-day bilateral visit to join the celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the golden jubilee of the country’s independence, the Bangladeshi news report further stated.
