SL to free Indian fishermen

The Sri Lankan government has decided to release Indian fishermen held by the Sri Lankan Coast Guard. This decision was announced by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, following discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. "We discussed in length, the fishermen issue and we will take steps to release boats belonging to India", Rajapaksa announced during a press briefing in New Delhi. Many Indian fishermen are taken into custody by the Sri Lankan Coast Guard and the Navy on charges of violating the international maritime boundary and poaching near Sri Lank's coast. Rajapaksa is currently on a 3 day official visit to India.
