The Ministry of Trade has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Myanmar to purchase 100,000 MT of rice as a buffer stock with immediate effect.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena today (07).
The rice stocks will reportedly be brought in through a state corporation, on the basis of a government-to-government agreement between Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
