SLC officially dedicates third ODI to ‘Kule’

[caption id="attachment_40767" align="aligncenter" width="786"] Kulasekara announced his international retirement last Wednesday at Colts CC, Colombo[/caption] Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Monday officially dedicated the third One Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on behalf of fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara who announced his retirement from international cricket last week. SLC will invite the bowler to witness the match on Wednesday 31 July at R. Premadasa International Stadium and will arrange a felicitation ceremony to honour him for his yeomen services rendered to Sri Lanka’s cricket. The SLC media release on this further added: [caption id="attachment_40766" align="alignleft" width="481"] 'Kule' and co with the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup[/caption] The fast bowler, who made his Sri Lanka debut during an ODI game against England in the year 2003, played a key part in Sri Lanka’s T20 Men’s World Cup victory achieved during the year 2014. “Nuwan Kulasekara has been a vital cog in the Lankan line-up and played exceptional cricket during his time with the national team. His contributions made on the field brought in a lot of success for the national team. I wish him the best going forward,” said Shammi Silva, President of the SLC. He was a key member of the Sri Lanka team, who entered the 2011 Men’s Cricket World Cup final against India and was the top-ranked bowler in the ICC ODI rankings announced on the 11th March, 2009 and remained in that position, till 26th September, that year. Simplicity and decency were a hallmark of Kulasekara’s cricketing career, which helped him both on and off the field,’’ said Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play the 03rd ODI of the ongoing series on the 31st July, 2019 at the RPICS, Colombo.
