SLC T20 League Game 7: Four in a row for Colombo

Colombo recorded their fourth consecutive win, from as many as same number of matches, in the ongoing SLC T20 League when they beat Galle by seven wickets at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Dambulla on Sunday, August 26. Fast-medium bowler Nuwan Pradeep, who played in the tournament for the first time after a period of rest due to injuries, sent back Niroshan Dickwella in the fifth ball of the match for naught. Pradeep ended up with 1/15 in three overs. In-form right-arm off-break bowler Akila Dananjaya became the main destroyer of the Galle innings when he took 3/28 in his four. The 47-run stand for the third-wicket, between Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya De Silva was the best partnership for Team Galle before they were restricted by Colombo for a mediocre 131 for eight. It was Upul Tharanga once again who gave a winning start for Colombo hammering 81 runs with eight fours and five sixes. Dinesh Chandimal, the Colombo skipper, scored a run-a-ball unbeaten 38, guiding his team to win in 16 overs while sharing 97 runs with Tharanga for the third-wicket. The final round of the tournament will take place at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy on Wednesday and Thursday, 29 and 30 August, before the grand finale, to be played between the top two teams in the table, out of the four sides, under lights at R. Premadasa on Sunday, 2 September. Team Dambulla, originally led by Thisara Perera, are in the current second-position with three wins out of four. Colombo, under Dinesh Chandimal, are on top with four wins. Galle, being led by Suranga Lakmal, won only one out of their four games while Kandy are still remain win-less.
