The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID), issuing a statement recently, noted that it recognises the unified and collective voice of the people in their call for good governance and against corruption at every level.
Claiming that corruption has ruined nations, economies, and businesses, it stated: “It takes a giver and a taker for corruption to flourish. Corruption runs against good professional ethics, business ethics, and social ethics.”
“As an institution founded on and bound by the philosophy, principles, and values of good governance, SLID calls upon its membership, all professionals, business leaders, and political leaders to heed the call of the people, swiftly come together, and make a lasting commitment to build, own and operate structures and systems in our businesses, professions, and government that can generate greater social and economic value in our country free of corruption,” the statement added.
